I looked a bit more into this and I think I might have found the reason for
the slowdown. If I understand it right AJAX iIn Cocoon 2.2 the generate block contains a folder called COB-INF which
I think stands for Cocoon Block may be. However what is this directory
and where can I configure it 's name?

Hmm apart from the setting mentioned in the cocoon.xconf there
is afaik no other setting. Cocoon checks the last modification date
against the current date. So if the actual file system reports

Yes there is zero actual documentation there on using the CocoonBean.
